Practical Details

Scholarships are awarded twice a year in May/June and October/November for the following September and December promotions respectively.

The Interview Committee have complete discretion as to how many and what size of scholarship to award. Typically they award up to 4 scholarships at each session. The size of scholarship can range from £2,500 to £20,000 depending on the merits of each case.

Eligibility

Applicants must be UK nationals and have a real connection with the UK. Applicants invited to interview will need to bring their UK passport with them.

Awards are made in the absolute discretion of the Louis Franck Interview Committee. Financial need is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for being granted an award. Nevertheless, the candidate’s financial position will be taken into account, and awards will not necessarily be granted to the best candidate(s) if there is a sound candidate who is in financial need.

It is a condition of the award of a scholarship that scholars should write a thesis or report to be presented to the Trustees within three months of graduation. More details on this can be found under the section ‘Theses’

Process

Application

Eligible applicants should submit an application form via the INSEAD MBA website

http://mba.insead.edu/schlmgmt/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_schl_guide&show=1

In addition to the standard questions on the INSEAD application form, candidates are also asked to provide the following information and answer these questions:

  • List any professional qualifications you have, giving qualification, professional body and date of award.

  • Provide details of your personal interests and proficiency in foreign languages.

  • What position do you plan to seek after INSEAD; what level of remuneration do you hope to receive; in which country do you hope to work?

  • Provide a cash flow forecast for your year at INSEAD, providing details of income (such as your income, investment income, proceeds of property rentals) set against details of expenditure (such as UK outgoings, INSEAD fees, rent, and living expenses).

  • In no more than 250 words explain why you believe that you merit a Louis Franck scholarship. Please outline factors that you feel distinguish yourself from other candidates and any other aspects of your CV you would like to bring to the attention of the selection panel. What size of Louis Franck award do you consider to be appropriate?

Interview

Interviews for the September 2016 promotion will take place on Wednesday 20th April.

Interviews for the January 2017 promotion will take place on Wednesday 21st September 2016.

A selection of candidates will be asked to attend an interview in central London after their place at INSEAD has been confirmed and a few months prior to the start of their course (in April/May for the September promotion and September/October for the January promotion). Unless otherwise notified this will take place at the offices of Rawlinson & Hunter. Directions to these offices are provided under the section ‘Contact Us’.

Interviews take place on one date only for each promotion: no alternative arrangements can be made. Candidates are advised to check this website for any changes in the dates before making travel arrangements. We regret that travelling expenses to the interview cannot be reimbursed. Candidates are asked to bring their current UK passport and four passport-size photographs with them to the interview.

Interviews last approximately half an hour and will be with a panel of 3-4 members of the Louis Franck Interview Committee.

Awards are calculated in £ sterling but converted into Euros at the relevant rate and paid direct to INSEAD to offset the scholar’s INSEAD fees. Scholarships can only be used to pay off INSEAD MBA course fees and cannot be used to pay living expenses.

Awards made are subject to two conditions:

  1. That the candidate informs the Chair of the Louis Franck Interview Committee if they receive any further award/scholarship/sponsorship towards their time at INSEAD. As awards are made in light of the student’s needs, if they do receive additional funding of this nature the Louis Franck Interview Committee reserve the right to reconsider the award and adjust/reduce it as they consider appropriate;

  2. That the candidate completes a thesis at the end of their year at INSEAD. This must be submitted within three months of completion of the course. For further details see the section ‘Theses’.
